The spectrum of demonstrators will include projects with impact beyond the academic research community.

Digital Social Research: call for Sustainability projects

Subtitle:
ESRC
Deadline:
Thu, 2011-06-02 16:00

Many ESRC investments have resulted in innovation in digital research tools and practices. While the initial ambitions of the grants may have been achieved successfully, there is often an opportunity to broaden the uptake and impact of this innovation beyond the scope of the original funding. This involves making sure that digital innovations continue to be easily accessible to and usable by others, ensuring that the broader community, as well as those involved with the project, may build on them in the future.

Tabletops

Digital Tabletops allow the development of collaborative, co-located educational applications. The table setting allows non-hierarchical collaboration (as opposed to a whiteboard for example) and is a recognised space for group work and  collaborative work. The digital element allows the ordinary table surface to be augmented with specific software designed to assist in a specific learning task. Participants can interact directly with the tabletop applications, allowing a substantial amount of data logging, which can be used for analysis of participant behaviour.
